Paul C. Kollasch

LAKOTA Iowa – A funeral Mass for Paul Kollasch will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ledyard, with Father Sunny Dominic officiating.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Ledyard, with military honors conducted by the Lakota American Legion.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Bancroft.

Paul Charles Kollasch was born March 22, 1915, in Bancroft, son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Thill) Kollasch. He grew up on a farm near Bancroft graduating from St. John’s Catholic High School in Bancroft. Paul was married to Margaret Smith on Jan. 23, 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II under the Battery A 534th Anti-aircraft Artillery Battalion.

Paul lived in Lakota, farming in the Lakota and Ledyard area retiring in 1978. He enjoyed spending his winters in Apache Junction, Ariz. Margaret preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 1985. He was later married to Ruby Dow on Jan. 10, 1996. He enjoyed bowling and fishing. Paul was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ledyard and the Lakota American Legion.

Paul C. Kollasch died Dec. 27, 2012, in Apache Junction, Ariz., at the age of 97.

He is survived by three children, Barb Snedden and her husband, John, of Des Moines, Becky Whitmore and her husband, Ron, of Fairmont, Minn., and Kent Kollasch of Bancroft; two step-daughters; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Droessler and her husband, John, of Bancroft; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Margaret and Ruby; two sisters, Cornelia Cogley and Mildred Vogel; and six brothers, Harold, Donald, Dick, Roland, Robert and Edgar Kollasch.
